My experience with Standard Mandarin (Yingshuang) has been great. My guess is that she is excellent for all levels of learners. In my particular case, I had been doing Duolingo for two years, which was going well, but working with Yingshuang has really elevated substantially my understanding of what I had been learning. I feel like I am now building a very solid platform on which to achieve real Mandarin competency and, eventually, fluency. She also is just a very nice person. I highly recommend Yingshuang/Standard Mandarin.

After looking everywhere for a new teacher I am so happy I found Ying Shuang! She is thorough and makes sure you understand the grammar and pronunciation before moving on to the next chapter. If you are looking for someone to help you reach your HSK/mandarin goals I highly recommend Ying Shuang.

My Mandarin classes have been extremely productive. Standard Mandarin offers a customized, disciplined, and fun way to learn Mandarin.My teacher, Yinshuang has helped me with speaking, listening, reading, and writing without cutting any corners.
I get homework each week along with additional resources to read and practice listening. In addition to the phenomenal teaching and practical homework, Yinshuang also arranges for groups of students at the same level to share homework and at a certain level, to do projects together. This gives me additional opportunity to practice.
Yinshuang also emphasizes the differences between Western an Chinese culture while teaching. This helps me not only understand the language at a deeper level but also provides mnemonic footholds that help me retain new vocabulary and characters more easily.
I think the value of these lessons is phenomenal and HIGHLY recommend Standard Mandarin to both new and experienced students.

I'm so happy I chose to restart learning Mandarin with her--I had a bit of an odd starting point, as I used to be be pretty fluent in Mandarin from time in China, but had lost almost all speaking and all of my writing ability over the past 5-6 years. I still have a very unequal distribution of listening comprehension vs. speaking with correct grammar abilities, but Yin Laoshi has been amazingly flexible and adapted to my changing abilities and progression as we work through the HSK books. I have been super impressed with her ability to tailor our in-person lessons to my unique situation, interspersing interesting tidbits about radical structures with basic grammar points from the books and advanced vocabulary that I can sometimes dredge up a memory of.
She is a great teacher, provides good structure, always on time, and clearly has the whole structure of learning Mandarin remotely down to a T: she will sometimes reference the book and chapter number that we're going to cover a concept or grammar point I ask about from memory, and then sends me the info immediately, and several times has sent me better explanations from other books of a given word or usage. Highly recommend if she's taking students, you won't find a better value!

If you really want to learn Chinese Mandarin this is the teacher I tried several teachers before but either they didn't have structure or I was just memorizing words, Yingshuan gives you the foundation to Mandarin, on your own you will not understand the why. After a few lessons you notice your progressing but no matter what you need to put in the work, she is patience and she goes out of her way to work with your schedule.
I'm glad I found her.
