FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Irrigation repair: Service charge is to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. Labor charge is $90/hour plus parts. We base our lawn mowing prices on a monthly basis. Prices start at $75.00 a month and go up depending on the size of the lawn and the amount of trimming and edging necessary. Average lawn care on a typical yard is $90-95 per month. This monthly price is on a set mowing schedule. April - October are weekly cuts and November - March are bi-weekly. There may be additional cuts needed based on extended rainy/warm weather if the grass is continuing to grow at an advanced rate. As a monthly contract customer, you also get a better preferred rate on sprinkler repair and a better preferred hourly rate for labor on services like mulching, tree trimming, shrub trimming. Most of our customers choose the monthly service, not only for the lower price, the preferred rate but because they are locked in against any price increases. They have the option of renewing at the same price at contract's end, which most choose to do.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Rainbird training for sprinkler repair. There are also many new 'green' initiatives coming out and I will be looking for every opportunity to offer my customers a completely 'green' lawn care experience.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I found that many of my lawn mowing clients had a very difficult time getting someone in the irrigation field to come out for a "small job". Most companies dont want to be 'bothered" with just a system tune up or one broken head. so I found my customers asking me to do these repairs. From that via word of mouth, I found myself fixing not only my customers, but their friends and families systems also. From there it has grown into a valuable service area for my business.
