Beware: Our Experience with Protek HVAC What was meant to be a $34,000 investment in our home has become a financial and emotional burden. Protek HVAC's installation resulted in mold growth due to poorly sealed ducts--forcing us to spend an additional $22,000 in damages, repairs, and legal fees. Despite clear evidence and multiple attempts to resolve this, they continue to deflect responsibility. Prior to their involvement in August 2025, our attic had no microbial growth. We paid them to remove all insulation, and an inspection was completed beforehand. The only minor issue at the time was with an air duct over my son's room, which Jacob attributed to the previously installed system being "too powerful." There were no problems at the mixing boxes or the plenum. After installation, Jacob disconnected and reconnected every duct and assured us the system was sealed and functioning properly. However, when my husband and Nick later entered the attic, they found the plenum had not been sealed at all--and microbial growth had already begun. Nick even commented, "Whoever did this dropped a major ball," unaware that it was Jacob who had performed the work. Rather than accept accountability, Protek has shifted blame repeatedly--from the hurricane to a previous HVAC installer. The reality is this issue stems directly from their insufficient installation. On top of that, they downgraded our 4-ton system to a 3-ton unit, yet submitted permit paperwork claiming it was an "equal AC swap." This was misleading, especially considering we were charged for new copper lines and duct replacements. What exactly was equal about that? Despite multiple 558 notices and attorney involvement, they have refused to revisit the home. Their only response was to claim the issue was resolved back in October, when all they did was seal a plenum that had already developed mold. That is not remediation--it's a cover-up. And to be clear: yes, you were hired to reseal the ducts. It's on your invoice. We also still have the Home Depot receipt from when Jacob purchased the ducting materials. Please don't suggest otherwise. This experience has been deeply disappointing. We truly believed we were in good hands. Jacob's professionalism and confidence gave us hope--we felt "protected by Protek." Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. To other homeowners: ask questions, inspect the work, and don't sign off on anything until you've seen it for yourself. This company does not stand behind its work--and you may end up paying the price.

I scheduled an appointment, got a quote, and did everything I assumed needed to be done via text with the vender. However they then emailed me and said that none of what was told to me via text was true or accurate. Wanted to raise the prices and change what they had said. They are claiming that I was talking to a "chatbot" and the bot can't promise anything. Very misleading.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process includes a call to our office, where Heather will set you up in our system for an appointment with one of our techs. After that you will receive a call and text from the technician on the way with an ETA, when we arrive our tech will be polite, clean up after themselves, perform the service requested and be on our way!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We carry an HVAC license as well as our techs are NATE and EPA certified, and perform ongoing training at our office and distributor to make sure we are up to date with all new technology and our skills are top notch.
