FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes I do. I am a certified professional dog trainer so have a certain amount of continuing education units that I must maintain to keep my certification. I always go above and beyond that amount. I attend seminars and webinars to keep updated in my field. I also attend the yearly conference held by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers where I have access to multiple seminars given by the top trainer's in the country. I, of course, live with multiple dogs to try out new training methods!!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most common are modification of behavior issues in the home such as barking, housetraining, jumping, chewing. Recently I have noticed an increase in requests to modify dog to dog aggression issues and dog to dog reactivity issues.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for a trainer who prefers to apply positive training methods rather than adversive methods. Beware of trainers who make you commit to contracts that don't allow you to get second opinions on any behavior issues. Beware of contracts in general. Make sure you and your dog feel comfortable with your trainer so your sessions will be productive not stressful. Don't be afraid to as questions regarding training methods, credentials, references, etc. Your trainer should want to involve you and all family members in the training of the dog.
