Another level of installation is a professional service organization. I have used them for over 10 years as I am an interior designer and I specialize in custom window treatments. You can't find a more professional and knowledgeable company. I use them for 99% of my installation jobs in New York and New Jersey and I've even hired them to come out to Florida to install very high-end custom window treatments. You can't go wrong with them.

Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

At first I thought things were going to be great with this company. I work for a company called Wayfair and we needed someone to assemble a bed for a customer who had mistakenly been promised assembly. I called James after he provided his number to me and he stated that he could get to the customer's house that night within the hour. I thought great! So I told the customer this and provided her James' number in case she needed to contact him. About an hour later, he informed the customer that he couldn't make it out that night and that it would need to be rescheduled. He then rescheduled it for that Saturday and wanted us to confirm that the time would work. The customer stated that it would work so I sent an appointment confirmation through Thumbtack, thinking that he would get it. However, he either didn't check his messages from Thumbtack, or he didn't get it. Either way, he didn't show up. I don't work on the weekend, so as soon as I got into work on Monday and found out that he hadn't shown up, I contacted him to find out what happened. He advised that I didn't confirm the appointment, which I thought I had as I had sent the confirmation through Thumbtack. We then proceeded to get a new appointment scheduled for the following Saturday as the customer works during the week and it's hard for her to get time off. James did make it to this appointment, but some of the pieces were damaged. Not James' fault at all. Because of the damaged pieces, he couldn't finish assembly. We ordered a replacement for the customer and it arrived to her on 04/20. I then contacted James again for an appointment. I received no response until after 1 email and 2 phone calls. He was out of the office on vacation. Awesome that he can take a vacation with his family. That's not the problem. He advised me that he would be back into town on Tuesday and that he would reach out to the customer then to schedule an appointment to get this bed assembled. This never happened. I reached out to him the next day (Wednesday) to find out when he could get the bed assembled. I never received a response. I informed the customer to try and contact James, which she did. He texted her back and stated that he would text her later that same day with his current availability. That didn't happen either. The customer ended up using a contractor friend who happened to have time to help her out. James was unprofessional throughout this whole thing. If a customer contacts you, you should follow-up within 24 hours. If you say you're going to do something, you should do it. Never again will Wayfair use James as a contractor.
