The customer sent me a message on Thumbtack, thinking that others would see it. UPDATE: "I must apologize to Symmetry Lawn Care. I misunderstood his pricing, and he misunderstood the work that I needed done. Michael did an amazing job. He is meticulous about the details, very professional, and takes pride in his work. He even offered to do the yard for free, but of course I paid him because he went above and beyond. Don't let my mistake turn you away! Great work at a fair price. I highly recommend Symmetry Lawn Care and have asked Thumbtack to correct my rating. Definitely 5 star ☆☆☆☆☆." You mentioned just wanting a simple cut, but your requests told a different story—asking for full palm branch removal from multiple areas of your yard, which were not small, along with cleanup and hauling. I was upfront from the start that the $40 base rate would not apply due to the condition of the yard. Unfortunately, because you didn’t get your way initially, you chose to leave a negative review and later stated that if I completed the work for a lower price, you would update your review. That alone speaks volumes about your intentions from the beginning. I completed the work, which ended up being two full trailers' worth of palm branches and debris. I made one trip to the dump and had to take the second load home due to time constraints. I also cleaned up two months’ worth of leaves in front of your door and garden area. Despite all of that, I told you that you didn’t need to pay me because of how everything played out. I no longer felt comfortable accepting your payment. You paid me anyway. It’s unfortunate when a customer misrepresents the truth and uses the rating system to hurt a small business. I have before-and-after photos showing the real condition of your yard and the amount of work completed—compared to what you were willing to pay. It’s disheartening when people choose deception over honesty. I’m a solo operator working hard to build my business with integrity. I take pride in being upfront, honest, and fair with every client. This kind of review is discouraging, but I know the value of my work, and I stand by the service I provided.
