Mendel N. says, "I’m leaving a 4 star review because the workmanship and problem-solving were strong, but the pricing transparency and upfront planning did not match what was represented, and I want this feedback to be honest and fair for both the pro and future customers. The quality of the work itself was very good. He is clearly skilled, resourceful, and effective at finding solutions when challenges come up. From a craftsmanship standpoint, I was satisfied with the final functionality. That said, the pricing ultimately felt like a bait-and-switch. The Thumbtack listing showed $53/hour with the first hour around $90, and I was told verbally that the job would likely be in the $350–$450 range unless there were surprises. He arrived at 2:00 pm and left around 11:00 pm, which is roughly 9 hours onsite. Based on the posted rates, that would come out to approximately $500–$525 total. Instead, the labor charge was $750, explained afterward as including driving time (about 2 hours) and additional charges per “surprise,” rather than being calculated transparently by the agreed hourly rate. While there were indeed complications, this pricing approach was not what I expected when booking through Thumbtack, and it left me uncomfortable. Additionally, the vanity cabinet was fully assembled before confirming that it could be properly wall-supported. Only afterward did we discover that the metal stud spacing would not allow adequate wall mounting. This required adding visible support underneath the sink. While this was a workable solution, it affected the aesthetic, and I would have expected an inspection and guidance prior to assembly, especially since the vanity instructions were available beforehand and this is his area of expertise. I am honoring the full payment as agreed. Overall, excellent craftsmanship and problem-solving, but I strongly recommend that future customers clarify pricing structure, driving time, and inspection steps in advance to avoid surprises."

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
