The quality of the painting itself was acceptable, but the overall experience was disappointing. During the estimate, the contractor was extremely personable and knowledgeable. While he was originally quoting interior wall painting, he also pointed out a few small issues around the house and offered to fix them at no additional charge, such as sealing around molding and correcting a visible wire near a light fixture. His professionalism and friendliness gave me confidence to hire him, even though his quote was the highest I received. Unfortunately, once the project began, communication and scheduling became an issue. After work started, I was informed that the paint costs had been underestimated, increasing the total price by approximately $300. He was also delayed by a day because he chose to prioritize another client’s project first. Although he did notify me, he then arrived several hours late the following day as well. Timing was especially important because this was a new-build home, and I had delayed moving in until the painting was completed. I was only making color changes and adding accent walls, and he repeatedly assured me the work would still be finished by Sunday so I could move in Monday as planned. However, by Sunday afternoon, I had not received an update, so I stopped by the property and learned additional paint was still needed and significant work remained unfinished. I ultimately had to reschedule my movers. I even offered to pick up the additional paint myself so work could continue. Despite this, the project continued running late. He repeatedly insisted the job would be completed “within the hour,” but the work stretched late into the evening. During my final walkthrough, I pointed out several missed areas and imperfections. At that point, his attitude noticeably changed and became defensive and unprofessional. The project was not completed until nearly 10 PM, and by then I no longer had the energy or comfort level to continue addressing concerns. I paid him and chose not to request additional touch-ups because I did not feel comfortable having him return. Additionally, none of the extra items he originally promised to complete were ever done, and I ultimately hired someone else to finish the remaining corrections properly. Overall, the finished paint work was decent, but the poor scheduling, missed commitments, lack of professionalism at the end of the project, and failure to complete promised items left me disappointed with the experience.

We needed stall doors installed in our school and Jay came to look at the project to give his best quote and provide suggestions which were greatly appreciated. He did the work in one day which worked perfectly for us as we can't afford to have a school bathroom out of service for too long. Jay returned the next day to do last-minute touch-ups, we appreciated the attentiveness to leave a job well done. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I’m fair in my pricing. I will give customer an estimate detailing the work that will be completed. Once we agree on the estimate and time of completion. Customer will pay the deposit to start the job and pay the balance upon completion.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I make contact with customer and coordinate a time for me to come out and look at the issue. I discuss the property with the customer to get an understanding of what is needed to complete the job and what is wanted by the customer.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been renovating residential properties for over ten years.
