I’m truly not in the habit of responding to angry people. And at this point, most grateful to not be involved with this event. I have been rated as a Top Thumbtack DJ multiple times and greatful for so many wonderful clients But like any business, there are challenges and with Thumbtack a major challenge is making sure that leads that are paid for are from actual customers. And the most common problem is 3rd party involvement. You simply cannot be successful here if your talking to people that are not the decision maker or the paying customer. Lynsie did not inform me that she was neither when she responded. This not a crime or a huge problem, but it was an opportunity to explain how Thumbtack works and how multiple people trying to be the client ends up creating the problem that it did. For any and all that take the time to read any of this-please look at the screenshot of our text interaction that lynsie sent. . I was not rude, i used no aggressive language-i simply explained that Thumbtack is designed to be used by the actual customer. In trying to make her point -saying that she “wasnt the person with the wallet, she made my point. Which is that thumbtack is designed for the actual customer to communicate with the vendor. For many reasons but this case was no exception as there were multiple errors including the basics of location, price and length of event. I wish them the best and i’m sorry that this happened. I can guarantee with relative certainty that i have been as successful over a full decade on Thumbtack as any DJ in North Florida and those that i continue to provide Entertainment for will get nothing but exceptional and Utmost Professional Service.

This is very upsetting and disappointing to me. I never want to upset a Bride on her special day so regardless of whether i agree with this, i feel badly that she feels this way. Its also hard to respond to as this wedding was 9 months ago. But after referring to my wedding notes i see what the real issue was. And it is a lack of communication that i have to take responsibility for. The contract was to DJ the reception from 4-8pm. The client had stated that they were doing the Ceremony separately at a different location. At every other wedding i have ever done, this has meant that there was a ceremony starting earlier at a church/separate location.. So i showed up (thinking i was early)to set up for the reception while the Wedding Ceremony was happening elsewhere. But turns out, they decided to do the ceremony at 4pm outdoors AT the Reception venue without letting me know. So instead of being set up by 4 pm and before the reception, i ended up setting up inside the cabin while they held the Ceremony outside the Cabin. When they finished the ceremony and came inside at 415 i was playing Cocktail music. I ended up setting up the dance lighting later as the wedding was occurring during daylight hours and at that point was way too bright to use the dance lighting. I wish i could post an image of the contract here to verify any/all of this but this format doesn’t allow for that. Again, i provided both high-end Audio (RCF J8) and added Dance lighting (swarm wash FX) within an extreme economical Contract so i dont know what “more” was wanted, but i do know there was a miscommunication that led to 15 minutes of stress that im sure the Bride and her Mom could have lived without. Again, ive never had a Client hold the Ceremony during the contracted Reception hours but i have to take some responsibility for not making sure we were all on the same page. Its a great lesson to learn for both me and clients to communicate as many details as possible and leave nothing to chance but im sorry that i disappoint this client. I have been on Thumbtack for 10 years-as a Top-rated DJ that provides quality service on a budget. And while this happened once every five years, i wish i could make every Brides day perfect- i will keep trying! Richard/DJ Rocknrolla
