Remote Photography (also known as Virtual Photography) is a type of photography where the client/model and the professional photographer are in two different geographic locations, connected by the internet and mobile phone technology. Modern mobile phone cameras equal or exceed the photographic capability of most professional cameras. The client/model uses their mobile phone camera to be photographed by the photographer anywhere in the world, at a location of their choice, such as their home, office, beach, park, or vacation location. The client/model and photographer plan and conduct the session using the mobile phone's microphone and speaker. The photographer uses their desktop/laptop computer to collaborate with the client/model during the session by posing the client/model, composing and framing the image, adjusting the camera settings (focus, aperture, shutter speed, and sensitivity) and taking the the series of photos from the photographer's location, such as their office, studio, or home. After the session, the images are uploaded to the photographer's computer, removed from the client/models mobile phone, edited, retouched, and delivered to the client/model just like an in-person session.
