Introduction

I'm a notary public in Florida and ordained with the Universal Life Church (please Google that organization). I am also a professional writer, and my goal as an officiant is to tell your story. No two couples are alike. No two ceremonies should be. Your wedding ceremony should not be a prelude to the celebration; it should be a part of it. I love helping the couple to make that happen. What I enjoy most about being an officiant is getting to know the couples and finding humor in their shared experience, which I will often incorporate into the service. For one couple, who were huge "Harry Potter" fans, I developed a list of spells they could cast on each other to enrich their relationship. For another, I incorporated lines from various showtunes because the bride was into musical theater. I want to help make this one of the happiest days of your life.

Rafael recently officiated our wedding ceremony and made sure throughout the process we were happy and comfortable with the plans. He met with us prior to writing the script to get to know us better in order to personalize it. He did a rehearsal/run through to make sure it would work for us and the words he wrote couldn’t have been more perfect! As for the ceremony itself, we asked to keep it short and sweet. He came through, but was still able to add enough personal touches to make it meaningful, memorable and unique to us. Our ceremony was at a family member’s house and he fit in great with the family. All in all, he made the entire experience amazing and easy for us and we couldn’t have asked for a better officiant. Thank you, Rafael!

I couldn't have asked for a better wedding officiant. He was professional, on time and funny. Rafael sat down with us the night of the rehearsal and got to hear our story. I gave him an outline of the elements I wanted to include in the ceremony with free reign to customize it around those elements and boy did he come through: he even managed to include my favorite musical in the ceremony 😀 In the end, my husband and even my father were crying and I was just holding it together to keep my make up intact. You can go wron hiring Rafael as your wedding officiant.

Rafael made our ceremony my favorite part of the entire wedding day. Maybe a dozen people mentioned to us that our ceremony was the best they've ever attended. And it wasn't by accident--Rafael found some really clever and cute ways to thread humor into the ceremony based on what he heard from conversations with us and from our suggestions. My wife was pretty involved with last minute tweaks to get the language just right, which Rafael was most accommodating about. The only thing which made us a little nervous was that we didn't get a first draft until the week of, but rest assured that it will all come together. It was great having Rafael at the rehearsal, too. We highly recommend Rafael and are very grateful for the special moment he created for us.

We are so glad that we met and had Rafael as our officiant. He was able to customize our entire ceremony for what worked for us as a couple. He is a great writer (which I am not), and he was able to make everything sound so much better. We loved being able to have him say some funny parts in our vows, and he had great delivery with our jokes/sarcasm. I would recommend him to anyone who isn't looking for a pastor at their ceremony, and they want to have someone who can create a ceremony that works exactly for their personality and vision.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically try to meet with the couple in person at least once to conduct an interview (to obtain background material to develop the script for the ceremony). I will follow up with phone calls to flesh out details we may have missed during the interview. I will develop the script and share it with the couple if that is their desire (some prefer to be surprised).
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I obtained an ordination online through the Universal Life Church because it was easy. It took only a few minutes. A couple of friends who found out about it asked me if I would perform their wedding. So I did. This is not full time work for me.
