Introduction
Michael Waxman Owner Operator of Purgatory Recording was born in Bronx, New York, and lived in Yonkers, New York until the age of 12. Moved to South Florida, and dove into the local garage band seen at the age of 14. For most of the garage bands, Michael ran and owned the sound gear. This is where Michael started to develop a talent for dialing in sounds. The desire to have a more organized, professional sound turned Michael to midi programming and launched a successful career as a one man band act throughout South Florida. His midi programing skills and vast experience with his own live sound helped greatly in learning how to layer tracks and mold him into the mix engineer he is today. The meeting of his wife, singer/song writer Mary Huddleston, turned Michael’s interests to recording a CD. This was the actual birth of Purgatory Recording Studio and Michael’s career as an engineer and producer. The Bring It On CD, co-written and produced by Michael and Mary, was the first full length project to come out of Purgatory Recording. Call it luck or destiny, through this process, Michael forged some very special relationships with people that he considers to be the most talented in the industry. The knowledge and experience that they have shared with him has been invaluable and they continue to be the main source of inspiration to Michael each and every day. Michael works with artist from all over the globe, no project to big or small. The gear collection is top notch, most of what you see in some of the biggest studios in the world in a much more affordable environment , the studio has a warm inviting atmosphere that most say brings out their best creativity.

I love working with Michael and Purgatory Studio, and highly recommend Purgatory due to the professionalism & high standard of quality recording, mixing & mastering. I am and have been a professional musician since 1985. I used to be based out of Nashville & perform live on tour & record there. Among others, I was touring fiddle/violin player with Country duo Brooks & Dunn as well as did tv & multimedia appearances with them. I have worked in & with studios from all around the states as well as Panama and several other countries. Purgatory is at the top of my list of those, as Michael is 100% professional yet is pleasant & personable to work with. He listens to your needs & provides you with the highest quality product at a competitive & affordable price. I still still work with them to this day.

I’ve worked with Michael at Purgatory Recording Studio on several projects including two full length albums. Michael is a true professional with excellent recording gear and he is a master engineer, producer and musician. Not only did he help guide me throughout the recording of my first project (which I was new to recording) he was also very encouraging and educational. Two decades have passed since the recording of my first album, and to this day I’m so thankful to have had the chance to work with him, learn from him and now to call him a great friend and mentor. Any artists will enjoy the recording experience and process as much as myself if they record at Purgatory.

Michael Waxman Review: Let’s start with workmanship, passion and Integrity come to mind. If you’re looking for an engineer that cares as much or maybe even more than you do about your own music, then you are in the best of hands with Mr. Waxman, he (deservingly so) takes great pride in his work. How about professionalism? First off, he will always answer the phone or return your call (or text) within minutes. He has a dependable personality, he always follows up. He’s a well natured individual with no mood swings and is always eager to get to work. His studio is clean and functions efficiently. All of his gear is top shelf. He is also a fine musician with great ears and ideas (if you might care to ask for some). Michael is a protools-magician and a mix-master; in addition, tracking with him is a breeze, he knows exactly what you need for getting the best sound, recording and performance; he’s equipped and prepared to do whatever it takes to satisfy any situation. He is also able to master your project. Michael communicates well, he has been in the music business his whole life and it shows; you will usually learn something from him every session, but the best quality about him is his honesty, he doesn’t waist time, his prices are very reasonable and you most likely will not get any better results in a million dollar studio paying top dollar per-hour. I have worked with him for many years now and I intend to keep doing so. Before I retired from touring, I had recorded in some famous studios around the United and I can tell you from over 50 years of experience that Michael Waxman has the talent the gear and the wisdom to shine with the best of the best. Sincerely, Tony Zamagni

Purgatory Studio is not only well stocked with high end recording equipment, but the sound engineer and owner, Michael Waxman is an experienced veteran with thousands of projects to his credit. As a studio guitarist who has worked there frequently I would highly recommend bringing any creative or commercial project in to Purgatory Recording Studio, especially if it needs to be done efficiently and effectively.
