Introduction
Michael Waxman Owner Operator of Purgatory Recording was born in Bronx, New York, and lived in Yonkers, New York until the age of 12. Moved to South Florida, and dove into the local garage band seen at the age of 14. For most of the garage bands, Michael ran and owned the sound gear. This is where Michael started to develop a talent for dialing in sounds. The desire to have a more organized, professional sound turned Michael to midi programming and launched a successful career as a one man band act throughout South Florida. His midi programing skills and vast experience with his own live sound helped greatly in learning how to layer tracks and mold him into the mix engineer he is today. The meeting of his wife, singer/song writer Mary Huddleston, turned Michael’s interests to recording a CD. This was the actual birth of Purgatory Recording Studio and Michael’s career as an engineer and producer. The Bring It On CD, co-written and produced by Michael and Mary, was the first full length project to come out of Purgatory Recording. Call it luck or destiny, through this process, Michael forged some very special relationships with people that he considers to be the most talented in the industry. The knowledge and experience that they have shared with him has been invaluable and they continue to be the main source of inspiration to Michael each and every day. Michael works with artist from all over the globe, no project to big or small. The gear collection is top notch, most of what you see in some of the biggest studios in the world in a much more affordable environment , the studio has a warm inviting atmosphere that most say brings out their best creativity.

I'm an independent artists who worked with Michael on several records. There's no better collaboration than working with an engineer who knows his craft, his gear, attentive to your musical vision and shows up on time every session! Highly recommended.

Michael Waxman is an EXTRAORDINARY talent. He truly is a master of his craft. Beyond being outstanding from the technical side of things, he is friendly, approachable and easy to work with. He charges reasonable rates for his world-class service. I have worked with him multiple times, referred others to him, and would encourage anyone considering working with Purgatory Studios to stop thinking about it and get to business making your next undertaking fantastic.

Simply put, Michael Waxman is brilliant. He is a master sound engineer with ears of gold and musicality that will blow you away. He always finds what's best for the song. All his mixes shine - every instrument, texture and tone is perfectly placed in a masterful mix of lusciousness. On top of all this, he's just an all around wonderful person to work with - fun and inspiring. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Michael Waxman Review: Let’s start with workmanship, passion and Integrity come to mind. If you’re looking for an engineer that cares as much or maybe even more than you do about your own music, then you are in the best of hands with Mr. Waxman, he (deservingly so) takes great pride in his work. How about professionalism? First off, he will always answer the phone or return your call (or text) within minutes. He has a dependable personality, he always follows up. He’s a well natured individual with no mood swings and is always eager to get to work. His studio is clean and functions efficiently. All of his gear is top shelf. He is also a fine musician with great ears and ideas (if you might care to ask for some). Michael is a protools-magician and a mix-master; in addition, tracking with him is a breeze, he knows exactly what you need for getting the best sound, recording and performance; he’s equipped and prepared to do whatever it takes to satisfy any situation. He is also able to master your project. Michael communicates well, he has been in the music business his whole life and it shows; you will usually learn something from him every session, but the best quality about him is his honesty, he doesn’t waist time, his prices are very reasonable and you most likely will not get any better results in a million dollar studio paying top dollar per-hour. I have worked with him for many years now and I intend to keep doing so. Before I retired from touring, I had recorded in some famous studios around the United and I can tell you from over 50 years of experience that Michael Waxman has the talent the gear and the wisdom to shine with the best of the best. Sincerely, Tony Zamagni
