Michael Waxman Owner Operator of Purgatory Recording was born in Bronx, New York, and lived in Yonkers, New York until the age of 12.
Moved to South Florida, and dove into the local garage band seen at the age of 14.
For most of the garage bands, Michael ran and owned the sound gear. This is where Michael started to develop a talent for dialing in sounds. The desire to have a more organized, professional sound turned Michael to midi programming and launched a successful career as a one man band act throughout South Florida. His midi programing skills and vast experience with his own live sound helped greatly in learning how to layer tracks and mold him into the mix engineer he is today.
The meeting of his wife, singer/song writer Mary Huddleston, turned Michael’s interests to recording a CD. This was the actual birth of Purgatory Recording Studio and Michael’s career as an engineer and producer. The Bring It On CD, co-written and produced by Michael and Mary, was the first full length project to come out of Purgatory Recording.
Call it luck or destiny, through this process, Michael forged some very special relationships with people that he considers to be the most talented in the industry. The knowledge and experience that they have shared with him has been invaluable and they continue to be the main source of inspiration to Michael each and every day.
Michael works with artist from all over the globe, no project to big or small.
The gear collection is top notch, most of what you see in some of the biggest studios in the world in a much more affordable environment , the studio has a warm inviting atmosphere that most say brings out their best creativity.
