In January 13th, I hired Adam through Thumbtack installed two garage door openers in my garage. During the installation, he opened the boxes and stole the two remote controls. At the time, I didn't suspect that he would steal from me, especially since I had agreed to pay him $1,050 for the installation and two additional bars that he claimed he couldn't remove the springs from. As a result, I didn't monitor him closely. After he finished the installation, I asked him why the keypads were not installed. He claimed that they were not included in the boxes, essentially blaming the manufacturer. Any installer would check the content after they open the boxes. Espencially, he claimed that he is familiar with the brand and the model. I find it highly unlikely that two brand new, sealed, separate boxes of Chamberlain garage door openers, each retailing for $270, would both be missing keypads. I believe that the manufacturer has quality control measures in place to prevent such oversights, and it's unlikely that both boxes would be missing the same part. The installer suggested that I could purchase the keypads separately online for $40 each. A few minutes after he left my house, he called me and asked for the model of the garage openers so that he could contact Chamberlain and request that they ship the keypads to his house. He claimed that he would then bring them to me later. However, when I texted him about the keypads, he did not respond. Thumbstack didn't suspend this person and continued to allow him to operate on their website. I never got my two keypads back. Update: After posting this review, he immediately called me and sent me a message asking why I lied. I'm making it crystal clear about this with pictures, so everyone else can judge for themselves. He knows full well what I did, and I know what he did. I was targeted because I was alone and gave him an opportunity to steal. I could have asked my neighbor across the house to check their door cameras and get footage of him taking the keypads.
