I recently lost the ability to walk unaided. My home had various floor coverings (80's shag(!), berber, and linoleum). The base floor is a concrete slab. I asked the N&D builders to remove all the existing floor coverings, and replace with laminate flooring. They took all the old stuff out of the house, and to the dump. The new flooring they put in is gorgeous! and absolutely-expertly installed! Super-silent, no creaking! They also removed two (24" opening) bathroom doors, replacing them with wider units to accommodate easier walker, or wheel- chair access. All work was accomplished ahead of schedule, and the price was very reasonable (Taking the old stuff out must've been brutal!) I'd make a commercial, free, for these guys, anytime!
