- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, an electrician will typically begin by taking an initial call to understand the issue, schedule an appointment, then arrive on-site to assess the problem, provide a detailed estimate, discuss the solution with the customer, perform the necessary electrical work, and finally, complete the job with a thorough explanation and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
High school diploma or equivalent, Trade or vocational-technical school, Apprenticeship, and Licensing or certification. Apprenticeships are a combination of classroom learning and on-the-job training that typically last 4–5 years. During this time, apprentices receive around 2,000 hours of paid training per year. Electricians also need to have a variety of skills, including: Cognitive reasoning: The ability to solve electrical problems Blueprint reading: The ability to read and prepare blueprints to determine where equipment, outlets, and wiring should go Math: The ability to make measurements and calculate electrical current values Communication: The ability to communicate with others Problem-solving: The ability to solve problems Customer service: The ability to provide customer service
