Gene founded The Gene Townsel Studio of Theatrical and Musical Arts in Los Angeles, where artists such as Scat Man Crothers and Marques Houston of Immature, now IMX, were regular clients. He also founded The Balance Town Music Publishing and Production Company and The Artists Against Drug Abuse Program in Los Angeles, California. As a vocal coach/teacher to professional and aspiring artists for over 40 years, Gene has used his experience as an internationally acclaimed singer and his formal training (Florida A&M University) as a vocal music major to help his students develop the tools necessary to be competitive in the industry. Some of his more notable students are Academy Awards nominee, Margaret Avery ("Sug" Avery/Color Purple), Verdell Brown (keyboardist with Gladys Knight) and Damon Hines (Lethal Weapon) and has arranged scores for "Moesha" star, Sheryl Lee Ralph, at the beginning of her career in Japan, as well as having been instrumental in the development of many other gospel and secular artists. In 1997, while still residing in Los Angeles, Broward County, Florida, declared a day in his honor, "Gene Townsel Appreciation Day." Gene has had a long and successful career as a top-draw entertainer from LA and NY to Asia. He has performed with and done backup vocals for the likes of Dusty Springfield, Lou Rawls, opened for Bobby Bland and many others. He has done arrangements for many well-known entertainers. After over 23 years of having a successful music studio in Los Angeles, he has only recently relocated to Florida to be near his aging parents. Gene's studio is in Boca Raton Florida and he still performs as a solo artist and conducts singers workshops for aspiring artists. It is very rewarding to see aspiring artists who work hard and apply themselves gain control over their voices. There is nothing like seeing an unsure nervous singer develop into a confident expressive one.

Gene is an exceptional voice teacher! I was amazed at how quickly he identified exactly what I needed to work on. He is very articulate and explains the mechanics of singing in a way that is easy to understand. In only 3 months of weekly lessons, I improved more than in 20 years of singing. You won't find a better teacher than Gene and I recommend him without reservation!

Gene Townsel is a very skilled, experienced, and knowledgable musician and vocal coach. As a student, the most important things I learned from him was building self confidence in my ability to sing, hard work and practice, and challenge myself. He also knows a great deal about the music industry and how's things operate and is open to sharing his own experiences. He serves as a mentor musically and is always willing to help you develop as far as you could possibly dream if you work hard! He's strict when it comes to practice and expects you to do your part, but if you do that, he will stick with you until you are comfortable with your voice and beyond!

My daughter was going to an established music school and being taught by a young lady who had no teaching experience. She asked for the experienced teacher but was given the young lady anyway. She just seemed to screech out songs. We almost gave up thinking well maybe she just cant sing. Thank God we did a search voice teachers in Deerfield and found this website. My daughter went to Mr Townsel and it was amazing! He actually teaches! He described so articulately how to sing while demonstrating how to breathe correctly and suddenly her voice came out! His method of teaching is so amazing and his way of explaining to my daughter who is a little shy how to find her voice was awesome! She had lost her confidence but Mr Townsel made her feel comfortable and yet challenged her. He is excellent! We are sooo happy we found him!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My Studio is in Boca Raton, Florida and I do travel. Although you might find a voice teacher closer to you, you'll not find one with more experience and skill in working with aspiring artists. Below is my Quarterly (12 lessons) discount package rate of $45.00 per 1 hour lesson per week. The cost of this package is $540.00. This amounts to a 25% discount off my base rate of $60.00 per hour (payable @ $240 per month). All fees are based on advance payment, or if you can't pay the total package fee in advance, your discount will be 15%. This brings the cost of the package to $612.00 ($51.00 per lesson). This option is payable in two installments of 306.00. There is also a one time $25 registration fee. We accept most major credit cards and the $cash App., $EugeneTownsel. I'm also available for a 10 to 15 minute phone consultation to hear what your experience is, what you'd like to do and determine what I can do to help you. Call today for your free consultation. FOR THOSE WHO ARE MORE ADVANCED AND ARE PURSUING A PROFESSIONAL CAREER, THE FOLLOWING IS MY PRO-RATE. This program is designed to perfect the skills needed to become an effective recording and performing artist. I assure you that I'll get you the results you're looking for. This rate is my Quarterly (12 lessons) discount package rate of $75.00 per one hour lesson per week . The cost of this package is $900.00. This amounts to a 25% discount off my base rate of 100.00 per lesson ($400.00 every four weeks) These rates are based on advance payment, or if you can't pay the total in advance, your discount will be 15%. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Before becoming a professional singer I earned a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Music from Florida A&M University and additional private study from Bob Selon in Hollywood,California.
