I am Eric, and I was born and raised in France, living there for 44 years. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classic Literature (License en Lettres Classiques) and a Master’s degree in Modern Literature (Maitrise en Lettres Modernes) from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Early in my career I chose to teach in the private sector and became a consultant teaching French as a Second Language to foreign and immigrant workers at many famous companies and institutions in France, such as Air France (national airline), L’Oréal (cosmetics company), SNCF (national railroad company), Gaz de France (national gas company), and Sanofi-Aventis (pharmaceutical company).
For over 25 years I have taught French in France, the UK, and now in the USA. I brought many students to complete fluency using the unique, proprietary teaching method I developed.
I teach a full range of students: Complete beginners, people preparing for travel, high school and college students, and people who want to brush up on the French they learned earlier in life. Some students who already have excellent French levels also hire me to go much deeper into this beautiful and poetic language, as we explore French literature, cinema, and philosophy. I have even taught American high school French teachers who wanted to enhance their own understanding of the language, and a university professor needing assistance in book translation.
To keep lessons interesting and fun, I connect to real-life situations so the information sticks and is easily recalled. In addition, I weave French culture into the lessons, because to me learning a language is not only learning the words—it is also about having a deeper understanding of the history and the context.
For maximum flexibility, I offer lessons via Skype and Zoom to students anywhere in North America. This remote method has become very popular today and is extremely effective with my teaching style.
