I have had a great experience hiring Painter Bros to paint my entire one bedroom apartment. There was a lot of extra detailing and three big closets to paint. The crew did a fantastic job. The company was a bit pricey but all in all they exceeded my expectations.

I recently had my living room and dining room painted by PainterBros, and they did an excellent job! Ivan was very professional and communicative throughout the whole process. Additionally, they were the only company I met with that actually provided a written quote for the scope of work (the other companies just gave verbal estimates and didn’t put anything in writing) which is one of the reasons I decided to go with PainterBros. Will definitely use them again for any future painting needs!

This experience was a mixed bag. Some great things and some really unfortunate things. On the front end, I’d say it was a bit overwhelming of an experience. Right after reaching out I heard back (good for responsiveness!) but through three different mediums at once. I received a message back on Thumbtack, I got texted, and someone was calling me while I was reading those other messages. I first started on the phone where I tried to obtain the business’s DC license info. Staff was not prepared with this information, which I find odd, and also just off that a licensed business wouldn’t note this on the platform. That being said, they did quickly track the license info and sent it over. In setting up the appointment, I did have to re-answer a myriad of questions I had already answered through Thumbtack when creating my project, which was perplexing, but easy enough to handle. Ivan was then scheduled to be dispatched to my unit the next day. I was initially given a window for his arrival and a number to call if I had any questions/needed to reschedule/etc. Ivan did not show up in the period given so I called the number provided, which revealed that the phone number was inactive. I raised this via Thumbtack message and pretty swiftly customer service was able to liaise with Ivan and he called me. I believe there was some kind of internal communication issue about the job paired with a flight delay. But Ivan moved swiftly to recover and was at my unit as soon as he could be there. The itemized estimate was sent to me and Ivan called me to walk me through it, which I appreciated. We were able to make adjustments live. The hitch here was that the system did not function properly such that I could accept the estimate and make my deposit- a problem that presented across browsers and device types. However, Ivan worked quickly with his IT person and got this fixed. He also took very seriously that I was hoping to schedule work ASAP to help me bring in a renter and worked with his scheduling team to get a team onsite only two days later. That’s when things got weirder. The team said they showed at my building and couldn’t get in despite me leaving detailed instructions on how to access the building. I was not with my phone when I was first texted about this (they had shown up after the arrival window with no notice of delay or a new target arrival period) and after about 20 minutes of me not responding the team departed. The team was rescheduled to the next day. Next day arrived and this time the team did show up in the arrival window… but not at my building. Once again Ivan was telling me his team couldn’t get in. After several back and forth, it became apparent that the team was not at the correct address, and this was the same as the day prior. Goofing on one of the most basic elements of doing business not once but twice in a row is just strange. When the team finally showed up at my building they got to work. I was told that at the end of the day I would get photos of the work so I could review the work and complete payment. It was my friend who was on-site to help me do all of this (I was not in town) who relayed their completion and provided me with a few photos and indicated that he had to wipe up paint off my floors and vacuum my unit to clean up after the team had departed. A day later Ivan provided me photos of the finished product via text, which is good because the two photo attachments uploaded in their billing system did not display properly (and I tried on multiple devices and browsers). I shared about the lack of proper cleanup of my unit and he apologized and indicated he would let his team know. Fundamentally, the work done was good and I paid my bill. I write this detailed review not because I’m particularly incensed about anything, but because there are just so many basic things that could be improved to make this a much better experience for the next customer. I hope the feedback drives some changes.
