FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I discuss pricing at the end of my free consultation with a potential client. I first need to understand the client's goals and the options that are available for the client to achieve those goals. After doing those things, I lay out a competitive flat fee to cover my legal services and I describe the additional costs that must be paid to the key government agency in charge of immigration issues called US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). I always offer first-time clients a 25 percent discount on my legal fees.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If a potential client tells me that he or she wants to hire me, I send the client an "engagement letter" which describes the specific services I will provide and indicates the cost of those services. The client then signs the engagement letter and sends me the required flat fee. If the client cannot afford to pay the entire fee, I divide the fee into two parts for the client to pay. After receiving the signed engagement letter and the legal fee, I will work closely with the client to gather all the information needed to begin the process of obtaining a Green Card or long-term visa.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a law degree from the University of Chicago law school and I have been admitted to both the District of Columbia and New York bar. I have worked as a lawyer for more than 30 years and have successfully assisted a number of clients with complex immigration issues.
