FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $60 an hour. I will give a discount for a package of classes paid in advance absolutely! I have no additional fees!!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
One of the first steps I take is to schedule a 15 to 20 minute online consultation with the client prior to be hired . I think it's important for me as well as the client to meet virtually and to get to know each other as well as to establish compatibility. During my classes: ( Mostly online now) For Beginners , I encourage conversation practice from the get-go! Basic greetings and how to introduce oneself , what do you do, where do you live etc.. I do like structure, therefore for Beginners and Intermediate- Beginners, I recommend using aTextbook . I encourage my students to read in class, with emphasis on pronunciation, to follow the Textbook, learn, understand grammar and practice , as we go in each class, ensuring the student knows how to use the new structures , and not just absorb without practice! I usually end the class with conversation . I do send quite a bit of homework! This sort of reinforces everything learnt in class. In addition I suggest Podcasts, Apps, radio, music, and other useful ressources. For Intermediate and advanced level students, my technique varies. We work on articles in the French press weekly. My students can increase their vocabulary immensely, and learn idiomatic French expressions, as well as more complicated sentence structures with a higher level of French, known as 'le français recherché'. In addition students study the more richer grammatical structures, that they may not have mastered at the Beginner Intermediate level.
