I'm Michelle, and my journey into dog training has been fueled by a deep-seated passion for making a difference in the lives of dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments. With over 18 years of experience under my belt, I've accumulated a vast amount of knowledge and expertise. One of my proudest achievements is earning my certification as a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine. This required me to complete 300 hours of behavior consulting, secure a veterinary attestation, and pass a comprehensive exam on applied behavior analysis, ethology, anatomy, physiology, and much more. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work in diverse settings, which has enriched my experience and approach to dog training. I spent several years as the Behavior and Training Director for a nationally recognized rescue group, where I developed training programs for dogs coming from some of the most challenging backgrounds imaginable—including hoarding situations, feral dogs, dogs rescued from fighting rings, and puppy mills. Additionally, I founded the first puppies-only day camp in Washington, DC, focusing on comprehensive puppy training, from potty training to socialization. I have a particular fondness for working with puppies and newly rescued dogs. Currently, I extend my expertise through online courses and private sessions, aiming to help dog owners build a strong, positive relationship with their furry friends. I also offer consulting services to fellow trainers and rescue groups, sharing the insights and techniques I've honed over the years. My credentials extend further, including memberships and certifications that underscore my commitment to science-based, effective training methods. I am a ProMember of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a C.L.A.S.S. Evaluator, and a Certified Trick Dog Instructor. With a foundation built on experience, dedication, and a science-based approach, I am wholeheartedly committed to helping dogs thrive and assisting their humans in understanding and nurturing them. My work is more than just a job; it's a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of dogs and the people who love them.
