Introduction

I love sharing my passion for music and enjoy teaching a diverse group of students. My teaching philosophy and curriculum is individualized to be centered around meeting the needs and goals of the student. I have worked with all levels of students from those just beginning to play the cello to preparing cellists to study at top level music conservatories across the country! My strong performance background in cello across many genres gives me a high degree of flexibility as a teacher. I emphasize consistent practice and good technique; but I also prioritize giving students weekly goals so they can easily see their improvements and progress. This is such a rewarding part of learning music! I look forward to working with you as your cello teacher. I hold a BM (Ithaca College) and MM (Purchase College) in Cello Performance. I live in a rural area and haven't been able to find someone to work in person with to learn cello as an adult beginner. So I turned to the internet and found thumbtack, then Daniel. I just had a feeling about him, so I reached out and we connected for a free intro lesson. I knew at that moment he was my teacher until I find someone as perfect for me that I can work with here. As a teacher, Daniel has the rare and crucial skill of meeting me exactly where I am as a student. He was able to assess my energy, my approach, and my ways as a student and has taught me with a mixture of support for my natural inclinations and encouragement towards the places I'm not as keen on in a way that gives me a lot of new skills to work with and a lot of new ways to explore as a creative after every session. Daniel played for my wedding last month and was absolutely amazing! He was responsive to all my questions and emails leading up to the wedding and on the day-of. He was on time and was able to set up quickly without help from me. He even quickly adapted from an outdoor ceremony to playing indoors due to rain. The music was BEAUTIFUL, even more so than expected. He is incredibly talented. It enhanced our wedding in an affordable way, so I cannot recommend enough!
