Introduction

I take on a wide variety of projects- anything from children's books to craft beer labels. I'm very reliable and aim to make projects as stress-free as possible for my clients. I am usually available for last minute commissions with a quick turn-around. If you have a book or longer term project, please contact me a few months before your desired start date. I primarily work in pen & ink, watercolor, and digital mediums. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Additional services available: Typesetting/book layout. Allie is a wonderfully talented artist who did a phenomenal job illustrating my children’s book about a little bunny and a big grumpy old frog. Her drawings are charming and the perfect feel for little ones, conveying as they do incredible warmth and humor. One of her greatest talents is to create and interject lovely little sideline visual moments that elevate the story to another level. She is a pleasure to work with – very responsive and very responsible. I feel so fortunate to have found her.

I worked with Allie to illustrate my first children's book, My Old Friend, Then. It was a wonderful experience! Allie has a warm, easy going manner, which made it easy for me to lower my guard and let the creative juices flow. Like me, she has a vivid imagination, so the collaborative process of sharing and developing ideas was incredibly fun. The final illustrations are full of delightful, unexpected details; vivid, larger-than-life color; and that perfect balance of warmth and humor that every children's book should embody. I could go on and on and on about how pleased I am to have worked with Allie! After seeing some of her work on Instagram, I took a leap and invited her to illustrate my book (How to Hold a Cockroach -- find it on Amazon!), a long-term project that was near and dear to my heart. She was so fun to collaborate with, sharing ideas and excitedly implementing feedback. She was also completely dedicated to iterating until we both felt that each illustration was just right. I had high hopes for the project and our collaboration far surpassed those expectations -- I am so delighted by the result! She is responsive, professional, and never missed a meeting or deadline. I really cannot recommend Allie highly enough. I want to write another book, so we can work together again!

Pricing will vary by project based on your needs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get as much information as possible from the customer before I start a project. Once the process begins, I keep the customer updated with sketches & the process. I like to keep open communication with my clients to make sure their expectations for the project are being met, and do what I can to make the process as easy as possible for the client while working together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BFA in Studio Art with a Concentration in Illustration and Animation & 5 years of working experience as a freelance illustrator and designer. I have also worked as an in-house graphic designer for a few companies.
