We hired Artur from AD Masonry in Waterbury, CT, to renovate our front and side steps with bluestone, stone veneer and to reinstall the cast iron railing on the side entrance. On November 18, 2024, the bluestone and veneer stone job were completed on the front and side steps. He was paid in full and he promised to come back in a week to re-install the existing metal railing. However, almost a month later, on October 12th, Artur came back with another contractor who according to him specialized in railing installation. During the drilling process, they realized that the cement that was placed under the bluestone was still wet. This raised a huge red flag for us because now almost a month later, the cement was found to be soft but they said they were going to be able to apply cement again to install the railing. The railing was installed and we were told not to lean on it for one week. We called Artur on October 24th(almost two weeks later) to inform him that the railing was not secure as the railing moves when you touch it which is not safe. He didn’t call back with a date to come and fix it. As a result, we called Artur again on October 30th to explain the issue one more time and when we asked him about his plan to fix the railing, he simply answered in an unprofessional way that he couldn’t fix it and that we can go ahead and complain about our experience. Be aware of this contractor especially with the type of cement he uses that doesn’t dry after a month of installing bluestone. Also, Artur was paid in full on November 18 ,2024, with his promise that the railing would be installed to our satisfaction. For these reasons, I would not recommend him for installing railing on steps or any other type of masonry work.
