Introduction
One of the first things people will notice about our facility is that there are no exercise machines. The majority of traditional exercise machines overtrain primary muscles while weakening stabilizer muscles as well as promoting poor movement patterns by working to isolate and strengthen one muscle group at a time. If you think about it, when do you ever use one muscle at a time in any other activity in your life? The answer is that you don’t, and if you only train muscles that way, you are ultimately working against your body’s natural systems. Changing people's lives.

This place is AWESOME! I will be 40 in December and was looking for something different yet challenging. I have not exercised for years and was not sure if I could do it. Brian and Peto do everything they can to encourage you, explain the exercises and push you beyond what you can imagine. I am only in my second full week and feel great (except sore muscles I never use!) and addicted to the classes. If you really want a challenge and feel great about yourself, do not hesitate to come here. The memebers here are extremely friendly, of all ages, shapes and sizes. I never feel out of place and I always feel welcomed. Brian is passionate about his work and you will pick up on that the moment you walk in. I highly recommed Rugged Fitness in Wethersfield!

Rugged Fitness is more than your typical "gym" - in fact other workout facilities pale in comparison! It's a family. Each client is given personalized attention, encouragement and feedback! The coaches work with and inspire all of us. I have been a member for almost 2 years now and drive 40 minutes to attend classes. I have never looked or felt better. Rugged has become a part of my life's routine! I'd you are looking for real, long lasting results in a motivating unintimidating environment- then Rugged is where you belong!! Brian, Janice, Danielle, John, Karen, Adel and Pito are amazing coaches that push you and praise you!!

My favorite place in the whole world! I started going to Rugged to train for Obstacle Races and for stress release through boxing class and found a "home away from home." There is a great sense of camaraderie during group sessions, and the one-on-one coaching is AMAZING. Brian and his trainers make you feel like, "part of the family," as they run you through a class... You WILL work hard, and you WILL see results!

Brian is a fantastic trainer and business owner. His approach to fitness is very customized and realistic given my lifestyle and abilities. I am happy to be continually making progress toward my fitness goals. While I'm not at all "rugged" I still appreciate the casual welcoming feel he has created at his centers.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start all new participants with a free Strategy Session in which you will meet 1-on-1 with one of our coaches to discuss your goals and complete a Functional Movement Screen. Based on this initial consultation session, your coach will design a comprehensive plan for you to achieve your goals.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that the trainer you are hiring has the proper credentials. There are a lot of companies that will "certify" someone as a personal trainer after only a weekend course. Proper certifications include CSCS, NSCA CPT, ACSM and NASM. Also a degree in exercise science is also a good indicator of a legitimate trainer.
