Amber, an award winning makeup artist, attended Marinello beauty school and received her Esthetics Certification in 2015, and is now licensed in the State of Connecticut. She became a professional makeup artist shortly after her time in school and has been in the industry since. Amber has a team of hair and makeup artists that work along side her to create flawless work. Smudge specializes in bridal, editorial, and production. In spring 2021 Amber opened up a studio space for Smudge located in Historic Downtown Mystic. The space allows for weddings, trial runs, special event gatherings, and a great space for parties! Amber was beyond helpful and professional. Sumdge did an outstanding job with my hair and makeup! I found Smudge via Thumbtack. They traveled not only from CT to NJ for my trial, but also traveled to VT for my wedding day. They did a fabulous job with my bridal makeup and hair, as well as the bridal party. Make up was beyond beautiful and she did a fabulous job on all different skin types from my oily complexion, to the older skin types as well. Hair was beautiful from updos to blowouts. She offered airbrush and eyelashes at no extra expense. Even our photographer complemented how the makeup turned out, saying how she made us all a dolled up better version of ourselves, which is a huge complement. She was able to capture the hodgepodge of ideas that i had and turned my face into perfection. She is great with her responsiveness, and always in communication, i never felt like I couldn't get a hold of her. Shes extremely organized, bringing her own make up lighting, chair, & tools. 10/10 would recommend, They helped make my wedding day, and I couldn't imagine it without them.

Amber did a lash lift for me recently and I love it. So many ppl have noticed and some thought I was wearing false or stick on lashes or makeup(which I seldom wear/specially at work), I couldnt b happier w the results/a must try if u havent already

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer payment plans! In today’s economy and especially planning a wedding, I completely understand. With a payment plan you have the opportunity to space out your budget and take a little bit of stress off your plate. My prices include lashes. *Quotes are subject to change* Bridal Trial- $125 Bride- $175 Bridal Party- $125 per person Junior Bridesmaid- $85 Flower girl- $30 Travel Fee is a minimum of $50, anything greater than that is $0.70 per mile, roundtrip/per artist. We do have a booking minimum of $600, that is equivalent to a bride plus three others. Anything booked outside of business hours, is subject to a charge of $100 per hour, per artist. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we chat about whether or not the date of your event is compatible, then look into booking a trial or online consultation, I typically will check in every once in awhile until the event! I keep it very simple and personal. Things I need to know to provide you with an accurate quote: Wedding Date- I need to check my availability first Wedding Location- This will allow me to calculate the travel fee, $0.70 per mile round trip, per artist. How many in the party?- I will need a breakdown. Example: "Bride is having hair and makeup and the 8 member bridal party (everyone else) will just be having makeup done." This allows me to create a pricing break down for you. From there we book a trial and I will create the timeline from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our whole team has been through schooling in either CT or RI and all have their licensing to perform Hair and Makeup Services. Furthermore we do have some additional training by: Aviva Tanning Labs, Elleebana Lashes, Barbicide Covid 19 Training.
