Introduction
When it comes to inspecting houses I have the right experience that is hard to beat. I worked as a structural engineer for years performing structural analysis and design for houses, multi-story buildings, and other structures. I have built more than 65 custom-built houses in many styles and sizes up to 5,200 square feet. I have inspected more than 1500 houses in my career from small bungalows to 6,000 square foot mini-mansions. The houses ranged in age from 250 years old to brand new (where I still found a structural problem!). I have inspected houses all over Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and a few in Rhode Island. I have performed more than 250 construction progress inspections for a local bank, which gave me the opportunity to see many new homes in various stages of construction. I even served as an expert witness in a number of construction cases for several attorneys. My building experience provided me the opportunity to experience all the construction problems, choices, and decisions that builders face. I know how they think, the trade-offs they make, and the resulting good or poor quality construction. My structural engineering experience enables me to readily recognize structural deficiencies that others miss, saving my clients the trouble and expense of hiring another professional. I have seen the best workmanship in houses and the absolute worst. I have developed that "6th sense" that enables me to identify a problem when there is little evidence of it. When performing an inspection I tell it like it is. I am not an alarmist. I perform my inspections in accordance with ASHI standards. I look at everything from the roof to the basement, inside and outside. I answer all my client’s questions. I try to educate the client about necessary maintenance and provide energy saving tips. I take pride in my thorough, comprehensive written reports. When the assignment is solving a structural problem, I provide a practical, cost-effective design. My experience is hard to beat! My quote assumes a one family house. When I inspect a house I enjoy the satisfaction I get when I give the buyer more information about the house than they ever wanted to know. When I find a serious defect in a house which my client was not aware of, I get a lot of satisfaction in advising my client of the problem.

Rinaldi Engineering was responsive and gave me an appointment in a timely manner. During the scheduled appointment he presented as a professional and inspected the basement and exterior structure and made his recommendations. Mr. Rinaldi also returned to inspect one of units which was not accessible on his first visit. I appreciated his time and was happy to pay for his “gas” for coming back to completed his inspection. I would recommend his expertise, work quality and professional opinion.

I hired Mr. Rinaldi to identify if an interior wall in one of my rental units was load bearing. Due to his extensive experience, he quickly assessed that it wasn’t. He then took the time to walk me through the basement and explain the support system of the whole building and how to identify any integrity issues if they were to arise. Outstanding service, highly recommend!

Charles inspected my entire home and foundation for suspected foundation settling for over an hour. He is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of home construction, engineering, inspection, and repair with a keen eye and attention to detail. When he finished inspecting, he showed me around the house showing me all the reasons he determined my house was structurally sound and was not experiencing settling. He answered all of my questions for over an hour. He gave me recommendations on how to solve an unlevel floor as well. I highly recommend Charles. His work is impeccable and his prices are very reasonable.
