FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Missed sessions are charged 50% of the scheduled time. I prefer to be notified of any cancellations by the evening prior to an appointment, but I understand illnesses don't present until the morning of, so that's certainly an allowable exception. Any sessions cancelled the day of an appointment that aren't illness/emergency related are generally charged the 50% missed-session fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free, 30-min session so that the student can get a sense of how the online setup works. It may be a bit different from home-schooling setups used during the pandemic, as it’s voice-only communication coupled with, from the student’s perspective, an on-screen whiteboard.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth in physics/education, and I have an MAT (Master’s of Arts in Teaching) from Vanderbilt in physics. At different times, I’ve been certified to teach in Tennessee and in California, but those certifications have long expired, as I’ve been living in Connecticut while tutoring online for the past decade. I’ve worked with Macmillan, Learningmate, and KhanAcademy; a complete list of educational organizations that I’ve worked with through the years appears on my website.
