FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
First off: I try to book massages for myself at least two or three times a month; receiving massage keeps me in deeply in touch with the beautiful work we therapists offer, and receiving from different types of therapists keeps me attuned to new techniques and practices. Once or twice a month I also like to watch new or emergent bodywork & massage videos, or checknout online seminars from ABMP. I recently completed level one and two certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and I am in the final stages of completing my Certified Educator of Infant Massage training.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We are all different, and trusting and liking your therapist is big in my book. Many of us have learned the same techniques and most of us are perfectly effective at what we do. How to pick? Well, once you know the work "works" for your body/needs, simply find someone you connect with! Interpersonal compatibility is so helpful. Find a good listener. Find someone who likes to learn and who will show up with that beautiful "beginner's mind" at each session so the work stays fresh, effective, curious and deeply beneficial. Find someone who cares about you in the way YOU care about yourself. If you feel that mind body and spirit are all connected, like I do, find a therapist who shares that belief. No matter what you do, I encourage you to find a therapist who delivers not just hands-on techniques, but genuine kindness and respect for you, your body and your health. When you do, WORLDS can open!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
First sessions are typically a lot about learning. I'm a huge fan of regular massage. Magic happens when clients come back! Return visits are where the magic begins to unfold...where the conversations about health, goals, wellness, feeling amazing, etc. really grow and deepen.
