- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Estimates are based on number of rooms, with a higher rate for full bathrooms and kitchens. Our per room rates are not set in stone, they are guidelines. The final price is always negotiated with the client based on their expectations, needs and a visual assessment of the space. Deep cleaning costs more due to the additional time and equipment required. Regularly scheduled, reoccurring cleanings are eligible for a discounted rate. The more frequent the service, the greater the discount. Because our company only uses allergy/asthma safe and environmentally responsible products, certain overhead costs are unavoidably higher. However, I am not in this business just to make money, I do this because I want to help people feel relaxed and healthy in their home or work environments. With that in mind, I'm always willing to chat about how to create the right service plan for the right price.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free initial consultation to every new client. This can occur in person or via phone or video chat. I will need to know some basics about your space including number and type of rooms, approximate square footage, type of flooring and counters, and any unique features that might effect the required cleaning time. More importantly, I want to hear about your needs and expectations for your space, including how the space is typically used, your assessment of how clean/soiled it is, whether there are pets, etc. Finally I will make careful note of any allergies, chemical sensitivities or health concerns in the household. I will then take some time to create a personalized housekeeping plan including an estimate, proposed frequency and available dates/times. The housekeeping plan will include any pertinent information about the household as well as your preferences or instructions (ie bedrooms to be vacuumed only, no chemicals stronger than baking soda and vinegar, the cat likes it when you sing Celine Dion). All of your personal information is kept strictly confidential. No service is performed without the client first reviewing the housekeeping plan and agreeing to the estimate. It is important to note, however, that if I do not visually inspect your space prior to service, the quote may not exactly match the requirements of the space. If this is the case we will attempt to contact you to approve additional cleaning time. After the initial service I personally check in with all new clients to ensure that your expectations have been met and discuss any concerns.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have worked in nonprofits off and on for many years, and have always loved serving others. During the pandemic I was able to be home with my son more and I realized that I was unwilling to go back to working a traditional 9-5, missing out on so many precious moments with my child. I still wanted to serve my community, so I started cleaning houses, particularly for neighbors with health concerns, new moms and the elderly. Because of my work during the pandemic I am conscientious about reducing cross contamination between jobs and ensuring that we don't just create the appearance of cleanliness, but truly contribute to a healthful, safe indoor environment.
