FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We work on fixed price contracts for almost all of our jobs we build. We use a standard industry approved estimating system called Unit Cost estimating. To accurately estimate any kitchen, bathroom, or whole home remodeling project, a detailed set of blueprints and designs are needed (Which we provide). This ensures accuracy to prevent change orders during the project and means we aren't guessing at the price for your project. It also means every client gets our best price the first time for their project with no added costs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For interior projects we start with a phone call to learn about your goals and needs for your project. If you decide we are a good fit for you, we will set up a free 60-90 minute consultation appointment to go over the project and put together a recommended budget based on our discussion. For small projects, we'll immediately provide you with a fixed price contract. For larger projects, after we've presented our good, better, best budget recommendations and you'd like to move forward, we'll enter into our Pre-cosntruction Service Agreement to put plans, specifications, and materials selections together. Clients may come into our showroom to select anything for their project from flooring, cabinetry, and countertops to trim and molding materials or visit one of our many suppliers showrooms. Upon completion of the design agreement, we will put together a formal fixed price construction contract with pricing options for the project and an estimated project schedule.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We train all of our field employees on an ongoing basis. We consistently work with manufacturer reps to ensure all installation standards are met or exceeded. We are lead safe certified, up to date on all of the industry training required for our licensing. In addition to that, we constantly explore better ways to do things, attend building science seminars, and visit our manufacturer's facilities to see how their products are designed and made to work together as a building assembly. All carpenters at VL Builders go through a 90 day initial on the job training to ensure they meet our standard of how we do things from start to finish and then receive continuing education training on an ongoing basis.
