Hi - I'm Elliott. I'm a full time musician playing a variety of styles - rock, pop, funk, jazz, fusion, blues, and folk. I'm based in Boulder, CO, but I play all over the front range and have toured through the US and parts of Canada. I teach children and adults with an emphasis on cultivating a love for music. For beginners, I start with basic technique as well as figuring out the answers to a few questions:
What music is the student interested in?
Why do they like it?
What qualities of a specific artist/genre really connect with them?
The answers to these and similar questions tell us the unique path forward for every student. The also inform us on how best to introduce new concepts in technique and music theory - without it seeming like a meaningless exercise to the student.
Music is my trade, my job, and my passion. I have only gotten as far as I have thanks to my appreciation for its many facets. Once a student realizes that so many aspects of the music learning process (yes, even the "boring" exercises) lead to rewarding and awesome outcomes, they are on the path towards mastering one of humanity's famous forms of artistic expression.
