FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am available on a per lesson basis for audition assistance and the like but for ongoing lessons I base my fees on 11 lessons in a 3 month quarter. Students can pay by the month or quarter. Students can stop and end any time. The lesson fee also includes my group classes which meet 1-2 times per month during the school year. There is an ANNUAL recital fee of $30 for beginners and $50 for more advanced students. This covers the cost for space rental and accompaniment. Students have the option of performing at up to 6 recitals/ year. 30 minute lessons are $120/month or $360/quarter 45 minute lessons are $180/month or $540/quarter 60 minute lessons are $240/month or $720/quarter
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If the student has previous playing experience, then I find out and evaluate what they already know, what playing level they are at, and what their musical goals are. I tell them what we would do to improve their playing and how I can help them reach their goals. I ask the student for feedback on whether or not that plan and the materials to be used is agreeable to them. With students who have not played before, we start with the basics - how to shape our hands to play the violin, how to produce tone. We will go step-by-step to learn and master the beginning skills. Then we continue to add skills.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a music degree in viola from University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. I also have a Certificate from DU in Suzuki Pedagogy. I have taken the training in Mark O'Connor American Violin Method through book 4. I have attended many workshops and masterclasses over the years where I have learned other relevant techniques also.
