We had Carlos and his team relocate our irrigation valves and install a concrete patio & walkway in our side yard in preparation for a hot tub. He was very friendly, punctual, explained to me his entire plan for doing the concrete, and answered any questions I had. They did a fantastic job with the concrete and it looks great. We did have an issue with one of the irrigation valves being installed backwards, but he came back out to troubleshoot it and got it fixed. I really appreciate that he followed up to make that right. We are very happy with the work that he and his team did and would recommend them to anyone looking to get a landscaping project completed.

This was my first experience with finding a service provider on Thumbtack so I was skeptical about the quality of the companies that sent proposals to me. I narrowed my list down to three after phone interviews, and received proposals from all three. Two of the companies came to my home to see the work site. J Custom Construction's owner's (Jose) showed up promptly and was exceptionally professional and pleasant. He obviously takes pride in his work and in his business. His walkthrough of the work site was meticulous, and Jose's proposal included details (such as gas and electrical connections) that had to be dealt with that no other offeror mentioned. I was very impressed by Jose's overall construction and demolition knowledge. He detailed the work he would do, and how he would do it, and we agreed on a price. He kept to the start date and time, and his team worked constantly during their designated working hours. His entire crew was attentive to details and cleanliness. The end result was the job exceptionally well done, ahead of schedule, for the cost that we agreed. For your background, the work included demolishing built up above-ground walls with rock faces, concrete block and poured concrete removal, and below ground spa demolition for site preparation for a new back yard landscape project. Jose and his team are professionals with whom I hope to do business again. I will always ask him to bid on any construction or demolition work I need to do on my property. Jose took care of all aspects of improving the flooring in my horse’s stall. He advised me on the best material to use (DG) and picked up and delivered a sufficient amount for the job. He leveled and packed the DG at a slight angle, in order to allow for optimal drainage when it rains. Jose worked very quickly and finished the job ahead of schedule. I strongly recommend Jconstruction.

Not knowing what thumbtack was exactly, I put out a request for cabinet assembly/installation. Within a day I decided to use a former contractor for that work but Jose had responded quickly for the job. I noticed on his list of specialties that he also specialized in concrete so I asked him if he would bid on a patio project I had in mind. Not only was his bid 30% lower than two other licensed contractors, but he was willing to do extra work for just cost of materials. His level of communication was always good and timely, he always showed up at the time he promised, he accomplished his daily commitments and goals on time, his helpers were tenacious and diligent, he cleaned up the yard every day, he had a team of workers who each knew their required tasks at hand, everyone worked long hours until their duties were completed, and needless to say, the patio slab came out perfect as I can tell. I am a retired handyman and I have never seen a better performance at a job site. After the job was completed, Jose came back the next day to power wash the concrete and because I couldn't be available for the next couple of days, Jose waited patiently and trusted me to pay him his balance owed him when we could finally get together. Jose has obviously impressed me with his professional demeanor, sincerity in his desire to satisfy his customers, and conscientious strive for perfection. I found his work ethic second to none. I will use his service again in the future. I am a difficult person to please and many contractors have found me to be too demanding but with Jose he was always at least one step ahead of me.
