Join me in the world of swimming! I’m a lifelong swimmer, dedicated water polo player, and passionate swim instructor. Since 2017, I’ve been sharing my love for the water, combining technical skill with enthusiasm to help swimmers of all ages build confidence and capability. The past two years (23-25), I’ve served as an instructor and swim coach at the College of San Mateo, refining my teaching techniques and deepening my knowledge of the sport.
Swimming has shaped my life, teaching resilience and achievement, and I strive to pass that on through a supportive, engaging environment. With a nurturing approach and attention to detail, I tailor guidance to each swimmer, helping them overcome fear, build skill, and develop a lifelong love for the water.
I offer 1:1 and group lessons as long as the swimmers are close in age and skill.

Carlos was an excellent swim teacher for my 6 year old son. I could tell that he was experienced with children because he knew the balance between gently pushing yet keeping it fun so that my son would want to continue learning. Coach Carlos is an outstanding swim instructor.
He has a strong ability to teach swimming techniques in a clear, structured, and effective way. His step-by-step instruction makes each movement easy to understand, and he focuses on building proper fundamentals, which has made a noticeable difference in progress.
My son has moderate ASD and ADHD, and learning new physical skills can sometimes be challenging for him. What stands out is that Coach Carlos is able to adapt his teaching while still maintaining high-quality instruction. He breaks skills down into manageable steps and reinforces them in a consistent way, which really helps with learning and retention.

I’ve been struggling with a sinking leg issue in my swim technique for a long time, and no matter what I tried, nothing seemed to help. Carlos was the first instructor who really took the time to understand what was going on. He is so good with kids, that kids love his company.
