My approach to helping my students master the American accent is through compassionate encouragement and techniques I've discovered which are simple and effective. My primary objective is to help my clients master the accent reduction techniques for clear and effective English communication.
My customized accent reduction training will help diverse clients speak excellent English with clarity and precision. Each program is tailored to the specific needs of the student/workforce and has a proven track record of helping people minimize communication barriers. Students will learn English fluency that is typically left out of a traditional ESL course: Pronunciation and articulation training.
Pronunciation and articulation training includes standard American English vowels and consonants, as well as the patterns of rhythm, stress and intonation that are used in everyday American speech.English pronunciation classes are not the same thing as a course in presentation skills. Although English pronunciation training includes intonation and voice projection skills, which are critical to a successful presentation, the focus is on accurate articulation.
Presentation skills typically address how speakers present information and field questions. English pronunciation, on the other hand, teaches the best ways to produce the sounds in English that do not occur in other languages.
i also teach intonation. It is an essential part of American English speech patterns -- the rhythm or melody of how American natives speak. Intonation, which is the rise and fall of the voice (or melody of the voice) is part of your speech that conveys feeling and demonstrates emphasis. Intonation also helps your listener determine if you're asking a question, providing information, or completing a though. Intonation patterns engage your listener and give vitality to your speech. Some people say that intonation is what makes communication come alive.
I am so fulfilled by my students growth - both in my dialect training and my dialect reduction training. What I like about my job is best stated by two of my students:
"This training was not only for improving my accent and making it understandable for others, but it was to eliminate/minimize the inferiority complex I had, before this course.??I must appreciate that you are extremely knowledgeable on the subject (I remember you demonstrating different accents and I could hear the difference and the way I was sounding before). I must also say that you are a thorough professional, even after the long duration of the course you kept us motivated all the time and managed the session timings impeccably and gave equal opportunity to all of us.??Thanks once again for everything."
"Thank you very much for everything! You are awesome! This course has changed my life! Before, I couldn't hear my own errors and occasionally people would ask me to repeat what I said. Now, my pronunciation is spot on and it has given (me) a new level of confidence!"
