Are you excited to explore the Japanese language and culture? With over 16 years of teaching experience, I am here to help you learn Japanese. I was born and raised in Japan, and I have an educational background from both Japan and the U.S., including a teaching credential from Japan. I have worked in both Japan and the U.S. at global companies. This diverse mix of experiences allows me to offer lessons tailored to every level, from beginners learning hiragana to those aiming to master business Japanese or reach a native level. I also have a deep understanding of the subtle nuances and levels of politeness in Japanese expressions. As a friendly tutor, I connect well with students of all ages. My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on your specific needs and goals. For absolute beginners, we can work on hiragana/katakana characters and practice listening and speaking skills. For school students, I can reinforce what you learn in class and assist with your assignments. For travelers or professionals looking to improve their communication skills, I offer customized lessons tailored to your needs. I incorporate a variety of materials and audio resources to enhance your learning, and I can also help you prepare for presentations and interviews in Japanese. As a JLPT specialist, I have helped students pass exams from N5 to N1, and some of those students have gone on to study at colleges in Japan or are working in international companies. Outside of my tutoring classes, I enjoy Japanese ikebana flower arrangements and teaching Japanese calligraphy for which I hold a Shihan master certification. I offer Zoom online lessons to any location and in-person sessions at a library near my zip code in CA. I try to keep updating my availablities and accommodate my schedule for your time.
