FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For individuals it is a minimum of a six week commitment to themselves based on one discounted fee reflected in the quoted hourly price. It is a weekly session for one hour. After the initial six weeks we switch to a monthly fee for the weekly sessions and continue as long as needed. For businesses there is an alignment fee at the beginning of the engagement depending on the business. Then it is a straight forward flat fee per month, depending on level of engagement. A minimum of a three month engagement is required to see results. Actual prices are dependent on how whether the owner wants the coach to engage with the team as well. Discounts are available for paying 3 months or more up front.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For individuals, the first two or three sessions are structured so that we can get to find out your strengths and areas of growth. We surface your behavioral style, your motivators, your values, your emotional intelligence and learning styles. We also dig to find your WHY. After that the sessions are less structured and focus on the specific issues or goals you are seeking. In the process we will probably uncover other areas to work on. We will continue our sessions until you are satisfied. For businesses, we start out with an alignment exercise that surfaces all the goals of the business, the process details and the financials. We then use that to provide a coaching plan. The plan will be tailored to the needs of the business and loosely follows a six step process to effect the needed change in the business that the owner desires. Realistically, it takes about three to six months following the coaching advise to see the bigger change. The commitment needed from the business owner is to work ON the business at least 5 hours a week. Most business will continue using the coach once they see effective changes to their bottom line.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a voracious reader in the field of business growth, whether selling, advertising, referrals etc. And because this business depends a lot on the mindset of the owner, I consume a lot of material about psychological and mental development and strength. In this field, the only way to grow my customers' success is for me to be constantly growing in knowledge. Jim Rohn said it best: Read a book a week for the rest of your life. I do my best to get one in a month, with notes and distilled information that I can use in my practice. Formally, I am a graduate of Cornell University BSc Civil Engineering with an undeclared minor in computer science. I have two coaching certifications: one from ActionCOACH and one from Success Coaching Technologies. I also have a certificate in Business Hypnosis. I am currently working on a certification to coach and teach body language. As to how I got to this from Civil Engineering and Computer Science, see the next question.
