Hi, I’m Darren. My lessons are HERE in San Ramon and Danville. I can’t travel to you unless you have private courts. I’ve played at the 5.0 level after only a few years of training with my top college level playing friends and 1 semi/professional friend. I’ve been instructing tennis for 15 years. I was able to teach my step-son who never touched a racket with 6 months of lessons to play #2 position at Varsity doubles as a Junior on his tennis team.I’ve been a director of tennis for Future Stars 2000s and a former PTR certified tennis instructor. I’ve won at an advanced college level 5.0 doubles tournament that invited the best teams from 4 tennis clubs at the age of 39 after only a few years of playing tennis at age 33. I can teach you the secrets of advanced learning. Hitting hundreds of balls the wrong way just ingrains the wrong stroke and muscle memory that will be hard to break. For example, squatting down with your legs for a low forehand in the corner or when on the run is a tennis teaching tip that is outdated and inferior. There’s different open stances for different situations intermediate students need to use and we need to work on one at a time:Short, short wide, deep spin, neutral high shot, late hitting, movement to the right, on the run Just the last session I got Manish to unleash power he never had before by drilling him on a lag/twisting motion like a spring that he told me no other coaches had ever showed him. He complained to them that he wasn’t using 100% of his potential power but they just told him that he was hitting hard already. I can show you foot, knee, hip, elbow and shoulder positions that will give advanced power, spin and directional control that other instructors won’t teach you because many advanced players don’t know they are doing these things. They have been doing these things unconsciously since they were young so they can’t teach it. I had to learn each of these things as an adult until I built solid strokes. I can help you access more potential power with the coiling like a spring of the upper body, unleash power through the hips and throwing the racket as it accelerates through the contact instead of pushing through the shot. My specialty is teaching youth and adults. My unique instruction not only can help your stroke technique but I feed from different areas of the court which is more realistic to a game situation. I can run you through different patterns of play that you’ll face in singles and doubles and then help you improve your technique. I can adapt a unique style and technique to your game. There are many different ways to hit in tennis. I am not like so many instructors who are set in their ways on teaching only one technique, or just feed from one spot on the court the same height and spin ball which is not realistic in match play.
