John is a very nice guy. He responds very quickly and takes good care of our urgent situation right away.
We have this huge waterfall stop working for a while and need to change to the new motor. John came to give us a quote the next day I called, came to do the job within the same week.
And he also cleaned and reviving our pond to be beautiful again. These all done in two days. Good quality, very professional, very punctual, good communications. Fair price and reasonable overtime charges. Highly recommends for hiring him for landscaping and water features.

John and his workers did an outstanding job. They built a three-tiered stone retaining wall, installed french drains and an area of crushed basalt, planted and added irrigation. They were timely and responsive - a pleasure to work with. John also did some trouble-shooting of my irrigation system that involved replacing a valve and installing a new soaker line.

John Islas did a fantastic job artfully landscaping my front yard in San Carlos with drought tolerant plants. He stacked stones to terrace a gently sloping front yard and filled it with beautiful succulents and flowering shrubs. He also installed lights that flanked our front steps and highlighted some of the plants. There was an unforeseen leak with the outside water pipe which the irrigation was hooked up to, and he promptly fixed it. People have stopped and complimented me on the yard and have asked for his card. I would absolutely hire him again for other projects as he is considerate, hard working, knowledgeable, and has a keen eye for landscape design. For my small budget, he gave me so much!

John's a really nice guy but he's out of his league in building a koi pond, which is what I asked for. Unfortunately, he got his instruction from Aquascape, who are notorious for misleading koi pond newbies. The pond was beautiful, we loved it, but it was WAY too small for anything but tetras and, even after just a little over a month, the pond was filthy without anything even in it! I tried to contact John on numerous occasions and was basically ghosted our told he didn't understand the issues I had with the pond dimensions, etc. He way overcharged me and didn't deliver per the specifications and failed to deliver the last of the plants I paid for and make the adjustments he said he'd make to the irrigation system he installed. Overall, a hard lesson learned and I am consulting with legal counsel.
