Introduction

We offer online classes via Zoom, outdoor classes and now in-person in San Jose, CA. I am an experienced language instructor with: 29 years' teaching experience Master's Degree Adult Ed Teaching Credential. I integrate theory into practice when teaching both adults and children. For adults, we focus on communication and getting you speaking in the least amount of time. You won't be bored with endless verb conjugation. I keep the lessons meaningful and dynamic. For children, we have group lessons focused on communication and fun or we have academic options for students interested in advancing academically. We also offer private lessons and tutoring. I like empowering others to communicate. My goal is to bridge the communication gap between English and Spanish speakers. My style is unique in that I do not teach for perfection. We focus on communication. I am passionate about learning about other cultures and share what I have learned regarding various Latin American countries with my students. See my website for more info. Pricing: Private Sessions $50 for 30 minutes on Zoom or $125/hour in-person. Small Group depends on whether Conversational Spanish for adults, ESL, or Spanish for children. Small group pricing of $525 for a 10-hour Spanish Conversation class for adults (min. 2 students). $75 materials fee applies. Levels 1-4 plus Advanced Conversation available. You receive a binder with proprietary curriculum upon request. For advanced conversationa, we read books by Spanish authors with comprehension questions. We work on your specific goals using a variety of web-based tools.

The Spanish lessons are ongoing, but I love the small classes and Gina's good organization. She was also highly flexible in getting me started in spite of a couple of schedule conflicts. I highly recommend Habla Language Services!

Gina taught me Spanish. I mean, zero-to-sixty, fumbling-to-functional, honest-to-goodness Spanish within months. She is an excellent teacher, able to adapt to whatever works best, and also (perhaps more importantly) able to change it up for people like me who get bored easily. In the mood for drills? She's got drills. Want to just have a conversation? She can make it challenging and fun. She has lived in several different Spanish-speaking countries, so she can also give you insight into culture, local customs, and dialects. She can change teaching strategies at the drop of a hat (I think I caused a lot of hats to be dropped) and is always a pleasure to work with. I really could not recommend anyone more highly. If you want to learn Spanish, you should be calling Gina.

You may pay less at other options, but you get quality lessons at Habla Language Services with a highly credentialed instructor. We use proprietary curriculum and videos and other engaging tools to get you speaking right away.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Students must know the basics before signing up for Level 1. Greetings and Niceties Colors Question words Days of the Week Months of the Year Numbers Pronouns We offer options on how to get you ready for Level 1. If you are at a more advanced level, we do a phone assessment to determine your speaking/listening level. We then discuss the best schedule for you and partner you with someone for a small-group rate. Or, we offer private lessons if you prefer.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BA double major in English Lit and Language & Culture Studies from UC Santa Cruz. MA in Hispanic Studies with an emphasis on Translation & Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Adult Ed Teaching Credential that covers Elementary and Secondary Basic Skills, English as a Second Language, English, Spanish, and Social Sciences. 29 years experience teaching languages and designing curriculum.
