FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $65 per hour. This is prorated for half-hour and 45-minute lessons. Tuition is due at the start of the month for the entire month.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I’m working with a new student, I like to get to know them a little better before our first lesson together. I’ll ask about whether they have any prior experience with piano (or music in general). I also like to know if they have a piano/keyboard and music books at home. If not, then I can make some recommendations to help them get started. Next, I invite my students to tell me about their musical interests and goals. Are there particular artists/bands/composers they like listening to or specific songs/pieces they’d like to work on? Are they interested in performance opportunities or musical exams? All of this information helps me tailor my instruction so each student gets the most out of their piano lessons. Finally, we go over all the studio policies (absences, makeup lessons, tuition, etc.) and logistics (online vs. in-person, day/time/length of classes). At this point, we’re ready for our first lesson!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate of the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors (granted June 2013) in Music and Spanish. I also hold a Master of Arts in Teaching + Teaching Credential (Multiple Subject) with English Learner authorization from Santa Clara University (granted June 2015). From the age of seven all the way through college, I have studied piano under Ester Dizon, Darrell Leffler, and Marilyn Swan. Currently, I am an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (Santa Clara County Branch). I regularly take advantage of professional development opportunities offered by the association in order to improve my teaching practice.
