I teach classical, pop and Jazz piano to all levels and all ages of students. I also applied the aural training, sight singing and theory into my piano and viola teaching.
I am an active piano performer, orchestra conductor and composer.
Although I was classically trained, I love pop and Jazz music and also music education theories. And world music of different cultures and ethnic music.
I earned National Music Competition 2nd prize back in Taiwan.
And top award in piano in the most prestigious Asian youth music competition in my days, Cathay Pacific Airline Music Competition.
I also graduated with the 1 st prize in the best music school in Taiwan. Earned a music fellowship in U.S. and on full scholarship in music graduate school.
I have come from a outstanding music pedigree ! My piano teacher Betty Yang is the first Chinese pianist ever won Geneva International Piano Competition. And her teacher in Paris was the world renowned 20-century composer Oliver Messiaen.
I also went to a prestigious music school in Taiwan, with that education system, I learn from French music education system. I train my students with the same European system that I was educated with.
I have helped currently 18 students pass their ABRSM exams, 70% of them pass with " Distinction" in both piano and theory categories. The rest are "merit".
In 2017 Spring season, 1/3 of the Bay Area participants who earned the highest “ Distinction” award from ABRSM are my piano students.
ABRSM is Associated Board of Royal School of Music, a globally highest recognized standard music exams and certification system by United Kingdom.
So far, I am the best teacher for earning the most of distinction awards from ABRSM in the Bay Area.
I enjoy sharing my passion for music with young students and adult students. I also enjoy watching my students progress in their music journeys.
