FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer two main types of pet sitting: overnight stays and daily visits (both are done at your house since I don't board animals at my house). The prices for either type depends on the species and number of animals. Please refer to my website at ElizaPetsPlus.com or contact me for more details. Both types of pet sitting include my house sitting services: making your house look occupied while you're gone.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually when a new customer contacts me, I tell them by email about the kinds of services I offer. If the customer is interested in learning more, they generally call me and we discuss their needs and how I can accommodate those needs. After this I send the customer a couple different introductory forms to complete before meeting in person. With a couple more forms to complete, I get good, detailed information -- the more info I have, the easier it is for me to accommodate their needs. The final step is to sign the Client Services Agreement. This all sounds like a lot of forms and discussion, but once we have all that out of the way, if the customer wishes to use my services again, they can just call or email me to schedule more sittings.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have had dogs for most of my life, especially beagles for the last 25 years or so. I've also pet sat for a few friends in recent years. As a result of that, I realized how much I love working with animals. I started volunteering at the San Jose Animal Shelter and later got a job there as an Animal Care Attendant. Next up was a job as a vet assistant at a pet hospital, but I developed an illness that prevented me from handling the extensive physical demands of the job. Since I still wanted to work with animals, in 2017 I decided to become a professional pet sitter and start my own business, ElizaPets Plus of Almaden Valley, so that I could care for pets for their owners.
