I would like to highly recommend Paul Montesano to you as a guitar and music instructor. Paul is a gifted guitar teacher. He is very well-respected in the San Diego music community; not only as an instructor; but as a performer and producer of musical programming content on public station KPBS TV. Paul is absolutely passionate about all genres of guitar music, especially Latin and Bossa Nova playing styles. His love for the art is evident in his energetic teaching techniques. He is exceptionally patient with his students and his positive, honest feedback motivates his students to produce their best effort. Paul is also a gifted transcriber of songs. He encourages students to bring him recordings of songs they would like to learn. Paul is able to quickly identify and write out all of the chords and changes in piece of music simply by listening, this process totally enhances his students learning experience. Working with Paul was a great experience. My first experience with recording, Paul made it simple and fun. He had great suggestions, a good ear, was supportive and helpful in song selections as well in some instances. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Although my standard rate for recording music is $40 per hour, discounts are available for 3-hour blocks of time. Flat rates are an even better deal for song projects-- and the studio is available for podcast recording at only $30 per hour or $75 for 3 hours.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My approach is to provide my clients with what they need most. If they are already good musicians and/or songwriters, I will offer my skills as an arranger and engineer. I am also available for collaboration with chord progressions, instrumental participation, and vocal coaching; which includes melodic and rhythmic phrasing and lyric development.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Private guitar lessons started at the age of 7 followed by classes in theory and composition into my teen years. Played professionally as a singer and guitarist since the age of 20 and learned digital recording from experienced professionals from 1996.
