FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first lesson is a no charge trial lesson to meet and assess. I charge $30 for a half hour, $40 for 45 minutes and $45/hour. So, the longer the lesson, the less the price becomes for each 15 minute interval. Although there are teachers who offer 30 minute lessons for less, my students generally advance nearly twice as fast as those of most other area teachers. After only one year of lessons, you have saved the costs of a second year. I also offer discounts to families who enroll a second child.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
During post graduation studies in music, I decided to explore what factors enable a student to progress more quickly and play more fluently. I made a number of discoveries and realized that many teachers have not really understood what holds students back. I decided to try my theories out. The results were so exciting that they have encouraged me to to continue researching, experimenting and putting my discoveries into practice.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have taught both children as young as 4 1/2, adults as old as 70 and all ages in between. Although many students come without prior experience in violin, I have had students come to me to learn higher levels of technique in order to advance in youth symphony. I have had folk musicians come to improve their sound quality and reading, and even adults who had studied as a child and were now ready to get serious about music.
