- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I originally worked in the music industry preparing contracts, my grandmother was an attorney so it made sense to go to law school and practice law. Working for Melvin Belli was a lot like the entertainment industry, TV reporters were always coming to our office for interviews on high profile cases. The Belli building was an old Barbary Coast building built on floating docks in the basement. In the 1800's Montgomery street was a long dock at the edge of the Bay. Our office decor was red carpets, Victorian velvet wallpaper and crystal chandeliers. We were on the tour bus route and Mel's office was on the first floor with big windows to the street so the tourists could watch him at his desk. If they were lucky, he would look up and wave.
