FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $35 per visit and spend 30 minutes with each client's pets. For long term care, (3 weeks or longer), I can give you a 10% discount. I do charge $10 if I have to pick up the key from you prior to your travel. Many clients give me a set of keys to keep, some people have lock boxes and give me the code, and some people will drop off the keys prior to their leaving.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial consultation is free. I like to meet you and your pets in their environment first and find out their personalities and likes and dislikes, their eating habits and any other information you may want me to have. Hygiene and the health of your pets are very important. My visits include cleaning the food dishes and utensils, feeding, scooping the litter box and cleaning around the litter box area, and at least 15 minutes of play time as this simulates cats' natural instincts of hunting. I will also groom your pets if they like that (most cats do), and/or just generally socialize with them. I'm always open for specific needs of the pet. I always send a text or email with a picture of your pet every day - and sometimes a video if they are doing something especially adorable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I volunteered as a cat socializer in Shelter Medicine at the SF SPCA for 4 years. I am used to dealing with cats who are stressed because of being in the shelter. I have had training in working with shy/undersocialized kittens and cats, affection eaters, and cats with aggressive behavior or who get overstimulated easily. I also have experience in giving sub cutaneous insulin injections to diabetic cats and will give your pets any medications that they may need. My approach to new clients is always to let the cat get used to me, I have a very soft voice and gentle approach and am usually very successful in coaxing out even the shyest cat.
