FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not complicated at all! Parts, labor & tax. The only time we charge a service call is when the appliance is not worth repair or the customer does not want to repair it. The Service call charge, for an estimate, is $27.00 locally and $35.00 for cities further out. There is no service call charge when any repair is made. Then it's Parts, labor & tax. If no parts are needed, then it's just labor only. Labor depends on the job but my labor charges are the lowest I've seen---Much Lower!! If you call me and tell me the make & model # of your appliance and what your symtoms are, I'll tell you over the phone what it could be and the cost. Most companies wont do that. I've got nothing to hide. I know my prices are the best around. (Beware of companies that quote you a total price but don't break down the parts, labor & tax. You should know how much the part is costing you and how much labor they are charging you) If they say "it's $220.00 Total for the repair" then ask them how much the part is and how much the labor is??? If they won't tell you,.....show them the door!!!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was meant to be. I was 21 years old and my best friend at the time, Charlie, had moved back to his home town (Santa Clarita, CA) to start up an appliance repair business with his Dad. His Dad was a retired appliance technician, with 35 years experience, and he didn't like being retired. After a couple of years, they were expanding and asked me if I would be interested in learning a new trade. I packed up my stuff and moved to Santa Clarita !! Charlie's Dad (Chuck) ended up being a second father to me and taught me so much! Within a year I was able to do more calls in a day than Charlie.(That made Charlie mad!) Chuck would say to Charlie,"Why can't you be more like Bob !" Charlie would say "Slow Down Bob! You're making me look bad!" I wasn't trying to make Charlie look bad. I just loved what I was doing. I am forever grateful to Charlie and Chuck for giving me the opportunity. That was over 30 years ago. It changed my life!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Here in Palmdale and Lancaster, CA the most common appliance repairs would be: Whirlpool or Kenmore clothes dryer not heating, General Electric Refrigerator not cooling, Frigidaire Dishwasher not cleaning, Whirlpool or Kenmore Washing machine not spinning or leaking and Magic Chef Oven not heating. However, don't think that the Whirlpool Washers & Dryers aren't good because we see them alot. The reason we see them a lot is because over 75% of the households own a Whirlpool or Kenmore. That's what's in MY laundry room. That's what I recommend. (Whirlpool that is. Kenmore is just the name Sears puts on their Whirlpool made machines. When people say they LOVE their Kenmore washer,...they're actually saying they LOVE their Whirlpool washer) BUT..... If you over-load them or don't maintain them,........ you'll need service soon!! Just call (661) 947-3428 You CAN think that the Frigidaire dishwasher isn't good because we see them alot. We see them alot because they can't clean dishes worth a darn! (I would have said damn but I don't think they would let me)
