Introduction

I take my time and am extremely careful about what changes I make. I try to make certain my changes are in the character of the writer, so I don't change the style or voice of the writer. If I think a change would make the work better but is not absolutely required, I'll make a suggestion, often with an example, and usually explain why it would be better. My passion is the English language, so I get to work with it every day! I have degrees in Public Speaking and English Literature as well as Education, so I've studied most aspects of the language. Helping to make the writing of other people better is always a gratifying experience.

I had Don edit my non-fiction novel. I had had it reviewed by many, so was mostly looking for line edits, but he added value beyond that, plus taught me that what I knew about commas was mostly wrong. Not only did I get a clean MSS, but I also learned a lot. Thank you, Don. I'd hire you again.

Don is a considerate, accurate and helpful editor. I couldn't ask for better in thems of helpful objectivity as regards his hand on my copy. Addtionally, his supplemental comments are always useful and thought-provoking. Any writer with access to his talents is fortunate indeed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a writer and a credentialed teacher, I am constantly reading articles on "craft". I'm also a member of the California Writers Club, so I attend monthly meetings that feature speakers on all aspects of writing, editing, publishing and marketing.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Editing, critiquing, and some "ghost" writing. Jobs have varied from line editing (technical aspects only) to extensive rewriting on both fiction and non-fiction.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make certain that the provider has the qualifications they claim, and speak on the phone to decide whether or not your personalities are compatible (unless all work is done by email).
